FAQs

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions

  • I am deeply interested in helping clients identify how they want to grow. As an integrative therapist, I incorporate multiple therapeutic modalities. I believe that establishing a strong therapeutic relationship is crucial for effective therapy. I draw from the teachings of Psychodynamic Psychology, Relational Therapy, Somatic Psychology, Transpersonal Psychology, and other evidence-based methodologies. I offer practical tools and techniques for navigating a wide variety of challenges, including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, addiction, and transitions.

  • I welcome people from all walks of life and all backgrounds. My practice is inclusive, and I am
committed to providing support to clients regardless of age, gender, race, sexual orientation,
religious beliefs, or cultural background. I currently work with adults, adolescents, families,
    couples, and groups.

  • My areas of interest include but are not limited to:

    • Depression (including treatment resistant depression)

    • Anxiety and Stress

    • Integrating Non-Ordinary States of Consciousness, Spiritual Awakenings and Spiritual Crises

    • Ketamine- Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)

  • I offer both. My office is located at 6536 Telegraph Avenue on the border of Oakland and Berkeley. I offer a quiet sanctuary set back from the street, not in a large office building. I also offer secure, HIPPA-compliant video therapy as needed for clients throughout California.

  • Sessions are generally 50 minutes. Sometimes we may schedule longer sessions, depending on your specific needs. I typically see clients on a weekly basis initially, but we can determine the frequency of sessions as we continue to work together.

  • Fees will be determined during our initial consultation. A “good faith estimate” of the costs associated with therapy services is provided before you begin treatment. Please contact me for a free 20 minute consultation to discuss what brings you to therapy, and see if it feels like a good fit. My rates vary for different services and I can discuss that with you by phone. If needed, I can provide referrals based on your needs.

  • I do not work directly with any insurance companies. Superbills can be provided for you to submit independently to your insurance company. Ask your provider about out-of-network providers when working with a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

  • I have a 48-hour cancellation policy. I ask for at least a 48- hour notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. If you do not cancel prior to this time, you will be charged the full fee for the session. Sometimes I am able to offer an alternate time to make up the session. I can be reached by phone at (510)587-3234 or email at peterpayrose@gmail.com.

  • Please reach out using my contact link or call (510)587-3234 if you have questions. I am happy to talk with you.
